Dental Implants

A dental implant is an artificial tooth root that is placed into your jaw to hold a replacement tooth, bridge, or other prosthesis. Unlike bridges or dentures that slip or move when you eat, dental implants are placed directly into the jaw to behave just like a strong, natural tooth root. With proper care they can last a lifetime..

Dental Implants

Dental Implants Can…

  • Individually replace one or more missing teeth
  • Replace one or more missing teeth by supporting a dental bridge
  • Eliminate the need for a removable partial denture or full denture
  • Provide increased support for a partial or full denture, making it more secure and comfortable

What’s Involved with Dental Implants

1. The Implant (the fixture that is surgically placed into the jaw)

2. The Abutment (which is attached to the implant fixture, and supports the crown)

3. The Custom-Made Implant Crown (the replacement tooth, very similar to a traditional crown)

Dental implants are an ideal option for people in good general oral health who have lost one or more teeth. While high-tech in nature, dental implants are actually more tooth-saving than traditional bridgework, since implants do not rely on neighboring teeth for support. You may forget you ever lost a tooth. Patients are many times surprised that the surgical placement of the implant results in very little discomfort.

Considerations

Dental implants are an ideal option for patients of a wide range of backgrounds who have lost one or more teeth. If you are interested in a dental implant to restore your smile, our team will carefully review your oral health and medical history and determine if implants are the right solution for you.

Advanced Technology

Dental implants consist of 3 integral components that work together to support a natural looking tooth. These include the dental implant, a connecting piece known as an abutment, and a custom-made implant crown, which serves as the replacement tooth and is very similar to a traditional crown.

What to Expect

During the dental implant process the titanium implant is placed into the jawbone. After the area has healed, a small incision may be made into the gum to uncover the implant and make room to place the connecting abutment that attaches the implant to a beautiful, custom-made dental crown.
As with regular teeth, it is important to brush and floss regularly and maintain regular visits to the dentist. While dental implants and crowns are naturally cavity and stain resistant, regular visits to the dentist will ensure that your implants, crowns and overall dental health are properly supported.
